Christmas Popcorn- Chocolate Orange Popcorn

If you are like me, you may be asking yourself what can you give to your neighbors and coworkers for Christmas.  You want to give them something they will enjoy.  However, between parties, holiday traditions, and Christmas shopping you do not have a bunch of time to make something.  You also do not want to break the bank.  Lucky for you, I have a solution.  My Christmas Popcorn Recipe, aka Chocolate Orange Popcorn, is a fantastic gift for neighbors, coworkers, or yourself! This Christmas Popcorn Recipe is made with only 5 ingredients.  It is a twist of my classic homemade popcorn recipe I posted a couple years ago.  My Chocolate Orange Popcorn has fresh orange juice mixed in the almond bark coating.  A key to having this recipe turn out is to first add the orange juice to the almond bark.  THEN melt it in the microwave for 30 second increments. Make sure to stir this mixture after each 30 seconds.  My almond bark is usually completely melted after 3 30 second increments. After coating the popcorn with the almond bark OJ mixture I sprinkle it with orange zest and classic melted chocolate oranges. This Christmas popcorn is so beautiful and yet you only need 15 minutes to throw it together. You can give this popcorn wrapped in a Christmas bag or placed in a festive mug from the dollar store. No matter the wrapping your neighbors and coworkers will all agree that this Christmas popcorn is absolutely divine. Once you have a taste you will not stop eating it!  So good luck saving some for your neighbor gifts;)  I shared this Chocolate Orange Popcorn Recipe on the morning talk show Good Things Utah.  I was honestly worried I was going to eat it all before the show! Who are you going to give this Christmas popcorn too?

Chocolate Orange Popcorn

Makes ~1/2 a baking Sheet of popcorn

7 cups popped popcorn (about 2 popped bags)

1 cup almond bark (about 4 squares)

2 tbsp orange juice

1 tsp orange zest

1/2 chocolate orange

Place almond bark and orange juice in microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments. Stirring after each increment until almond bark is melted and combined with orange juice. Be careful not to overheat almond bark.  Fold melted almond bark into popcorn until popcorn is well coated.  Dump coated popcorn onto lined cookie sheet.  Immediately sprinkle popcorn with orange zest and small pieces of chocolate orange.  Place 6 slices of chocolate orange in small bowl.  Microwave in 30 sec increments until melted.  Use fork to drizzle melted chocolate orange over popcorn.  Let popcorn set for 30 min-1 hr until chocolate has hardened.  Then break into big pieces and serve or place in cellophane bags for the perfect neighbor Christmas gift.
