Healthy Breakfast Ideas – Oatmeal Bowls 4 Ways

These oatmeal smoothie bowls are healthy and beautiful.  You may have noticed that smoothie bowls are all the rage.  I totally understand why. They are so pretty look at!  Unfortunately, they aren’t as healthy as you may think. Don’t get me wrong these bowls have plenty of nutrients and vitamins.  Sadly they are also loaded with tons of sugar.  Whenever you blend or juice fruit you flood your system with sugar.  I love me some sugar.  However, if I am going to eat it, I am going to consciously eat one of my favorite treats like my strawberry nutella cookies.

For my day to day meals I make them as healthy as possible.  It is all about balance.  These oatmeal smoothie bowls use oatmeal as the base.  This provides you with less sugar.  In fact there is only 1 gram per serving.  You also get 5 grams of protein per serving.  Protein is key in building/repairing muscles and maintaining your stamina throughout the day.  We still get the yummy sweetness and beautiful color from the fresh fruit toppings.  The difference is we are eating the fruit in its whole form.  Eating fruit in its whole form gives your brain time to signal your body that you are full and have had enough.  Whenever you eat blended fruit it is so compact that your brain is often late and you overeat.

1 serving prepared instant oatmeal

1/4 cup raspberries

2 tbsp sliced almonds

1/4 cup sliced strawberries

2 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes

1 tbsp almond butter

Sprinkle of chia seeds

Blueberry Pecan Oatmeal Bowl

1 serving prepared instant oatmeal

1 sliced banana

1/4 cup blueberries

2 tbsp chopped pecans

sprinkle of cinnamon

drizzle of maple syrup

1 sliced banana

1/4 cup raspberries
